About us
Frenchay Forestry has been growing and selling real Christmas trees to Bristol families since the 1970s and was the first supplier in the city to introduce Nordmann Fir trees.
Unlike seasonal pop-up sellers, we’re a genuine forestry business with our own 30-acre plantation in the Mendip Hills and two retail sites serving Bristol. We grow, manage and sell our own trees, giving us complete control over quality from field to front room. The fact that more customers return to us each year says everything about the quality of our trees and service.

Real Christmas Trees For Sale in Bristol — Nordmann Fir, Spruce and More
Real Christmas Trees For Sale in Bristol — Nordmann Fir, Spruce and More
The selection is at its best early in the season, so it’s worth coming down before the bigger sizes start going. The full range runs from 3ft right up to 16ft, and you’ll find Nordmann Fir, Norway Spruce, Fraser Fir, pot grown Nordmann Fir and pot grown Spruce. Prices start from £24 for a freshly cut Norway Spruce and just £30 for a freshly cut Nordmann Fir.
Most people are choosing between a Nordmann Fir and a Norway Spruce, and it usually comes down to needles. Nordmann Firs hold them well, so if your tree is going up early in December or you keep the heating on high, it’ll last a lot better than a Spruce will. Norway Spruce is the classic, with that familiar festive scent, but it drops needles faster and suits cooler rooms and people who put the tree up a bit later. If you’re not sure which variety is right for your home, give us a ring. We’ve been matching Bristol families to their perfect tree for over 50 years, and it takes about two minutes to work out what you need.
Two Bristol Sites to Find Your Tree
Our main public site is Bristol Christmas Tree Farm on Filton Road, BS16 1QG, just over the road from our original Frenchay Cricket Club ground. We sold to the public from the cricket club for years, but with our wholesale side growing we’ve moved retail across to the farm, where there’s more room. It’s open Monday to Friday 9am until late, and weekends 9am to 6pm. Call the team on 07535 004 612.
If you’d rather cut your own tree close to the city than drive out to the Mendips, this is the site for you. We run a choose-and-cut service here all week, so you can walk the rows, pick your tree, cut it yourself and take it home knowing exactly when it was cut.
Our second retail site, Clifton Christmas Trees, moved in 2022 and is now at Aerospace Bristol near Cribbs Causeway, Hayes Way, Patchway, BS34 5BZ. Just off the M5, which makes it easy to reach from most parts of Bristol. Open Monday to Friday 9am to 6:30pm, weekends 9am to 6pm. Reach that team on 07561 184 546 or info@cliftontrees.com.
Pot Grown Christmas Trees You Can Plant Afterwards
Not everyone wants a cut tree, and that’s fair enough. Pot grown trees are a good option if you want something to plant in the garden after Christmas, or bring back into the house year after year. We sell pot grown Nordmann Fir from £32 and pot grown Norway Spruce from £24, and both are available across our Bristol sites. They need a bit more water than a cut tree and a cooler spot in the room helps, but most people find them straightforward to look after through December.
Not Sure What Size to Order?
It catches people out more often than you’d think. A 6ft tree sounds right until it’s standing in your living room next to a 9ft ceiling and you’ve lost the top two feet to the coving. As a rough guide, measure your ceiling height and take off about a foot for the star or angel and the pot or stand. If you want the tree to fill a corner properly, the larger Nordmanns have a good wide spread at the base and tend to suit bigger rooms well.
